Welcome to bes-t.co.uk - my little corner of the internet

Trespassers welcome (as long as they wipe their feet)

WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO
This box is mainly for my own reference. You might as well move on to another bit.

The labs Etomite CMS Made Easy PHP-Nuke Wordpress Gallery Mambo Joomla! Drupal Mediawiki
6 September 2006 A couple more bits have been added to the "Gadgets" page - stuff about the iPod dock I bought recently, and a bit about the next daft thing I've got my eyes on (a Ducti wallet, and maybe bag as well). I am the geeky-wierd-stuff-marketers dream, I really am.

And less shiny, but still fun, I've been sorting out flights for another trip to Turkey. There will be another venture to the fairy chimneys of Cappadoccia, this time with me driving a rented car rather than having a driver and guide, and quite possibly a dawn hot air balloon ride too.
4 September 2006 If you ever want to buy me stuff and don't know what to get me, you can find my Amazon Wish List here.
3 September 2006 I've added a few more bits to the "Games" page.

Head First apparently got a bit of a write up in the local paper last week. And a couple of people (not me!) are probably going to be doing a radio interview on BBC Berkshire soon, which will hopefully get some more people interested. All good stuff, really! I've been adding some more bits to the website, and I think it looks pretty good really. It's got a new domain as well, which is www.head-first.tk
24 August 2006 I've discovered a website that has been put together by my old form tutor from secondary school. He's unearthed photos of some of the trips and things, dating back to the early 90s. There seems to be an unnerving number of pictures of me in there. If you fancy a giggle at the dreadful hairstyles and fashion, this is where to find it. I really had no idea we were so small back then.

Head First launched last week, with a successful party. The website is working properly, and there is now a photo gallery as well.
12 August 2006 Some clever person somehow worked out that the picture (below) of the Japanese fellow was taken in Kaysersberg, Alsace. We still need to find the man though.

There's another Perplex City live event on today - this time in San Fransisco. There's online participation for people who can't get there, starting at 7p.m.

Head First (the mental health service user involvement project in Wokingham) officially launches on Friday 18th. I put together the first issue of the newsletter, so it's just about ready for printing, and I've set up a blog as a temporary website where we can post articles and stuff. If you want to have a look, it's here.

I've been fiddling around with some website stuff over the last couple of days. As well as getting WordPress up and running for the Head First blog, I've been having a go with Mediawiki and a few content management systems. It's all very experimental at the moment, so I'm calling the areas "labs" - all that's missing is the bubbling test tubes!
7 August 2006 There are now two sites looking for our Oriental friend:
Don't expect regular updates, I'll add things as and when I feel like it, or when I get round to it.

SO.... THIS IS MY HOMEPAGE.

Come in and browse around, but don't break anything or make a mess!

Hi. I'm myf, and this is my website. And here are a few little pictures of me:

me    me    me

I don't like having my photo taken, so I made a few Weemees instead. You can go and make your own at Wee World

One photo I don't mind showing to people is this one:

Baby myf

It's my baby photo from my passport!

A brief guide to what's here, and where to find it (I've cunningly arranged the pages in alphabetical order, with the exception of the home page):
  • Home is quite obviously this page.
  • Archive is a dumping ground for stuff that's old, or doesn't fit on it's original page anymore.
  • Books is about the books and authors I like.
  • Elli's Wedding is a site I created as a sort of wedding present for my friend. Most of it is photos that I took on the day. Some of it doesn't work properly, but I haven't got round to sorting it out yet.
  • Gadgets is about the various shiny bits of technology I own, and whilst I probably could live without them, I'd rather not.
  • Games will lead you to a few games I enjoy. I like puzzles, and I've found two that are so puzzling it's infuriating.
  • Groups is about various societies and organisations that I either support or am actively involved with. There's amateur theatre, mental health, the local Carnival, politics, human rights, and donkeys.
  • Music has got information on what I like listening to.
  • Travel is fairly self-explanatory. It's where you'll find the pages I created after my trip to Iceland. I've since been off to Malta, and Turkey (twice), but haven't bothered doing pages about them yet. Maybe one day I'll get round to it. In the meantime, there are links to the photos I took.
  • Websites & Software is exactly that: links to other sites, and to software that I like using.
If, for whatever reason, you want to buy me stuff, you can find a selection of things I'd like on my Amazon Wish List. Go on, you know you want to buy pressies for me!
Get your computer doing something useful!

Go and visit this site:
Assault on 13th Labour

Once you're there, download the program, run it, and take part in a ground-breaking effort to crack the code. You'll also be putting hundreds, if not thousands, of people out of their misery if your machine cracks it!
It's all to do with Perplex City, but you don't have to be a player to help - visit the Games page for more information.
I've been told I should make this page more interesting, but I don't really know what else to put on it. Until I have a better plan, this will have to do:

Perplex City Free Virtual Puzzle CardsPerplex City Store Locator

At various places around the site, you will find me gibbering on about Perplex City. It's a game I am playing. Things are getting exciting at the moment. And it's taking over my life, but that's ok.

You too can share in the lunacy that is Perplex City. There are a couple of virtual puzzle cards to try (click the first picture), and if you like the game and want more cards, you can use the store locator (second picture) to find more puzzly goodness nearby or online.

There's a bit more about it on my "Games" page, which also has links to all sorts of related websites. And if you don't like the look of Perplex City, the page also tells you about some of the other games I play.

Enjoy!
